Hidden in the woods near Vierhouten is Het Verscholen Dorp. During World War II, this was a hiding camp for Jews that was also called "Pas-Opkamp. It consisted of 9 huts where a total of about 80 people hid. A monument stands on the Tongerenseweg in memory.
